Sarah Aubrey

CEO, Managing Member

Sarah Aubrey is The Aubrey Group’s founder and leader. She strongly believes in acting from a place of our core values—kindness, curiosity, and diligence—as an invested advocate for improving our communities and delivering the highest level of service. Since founding the firm in 2015, she has been the lead grants project manager, HUD CDBG consultant, and senior planner on the majority of the firm’s projects across multiple markets, including local government, nonprofit, corporate, and education.

Under her leadership, The Aubrey Group has served dozens of New Jersey local government clients, including the Cities of Newark, Rahway, East Orange, and Camden, the Townships of Montclair and Fairfield, and the Boroughs of Roselle Park, Matawan, and Buena, just to name a few. Her firm has helped her clients secure over $1.2 billion in grant funding, including funding from federal, state, county, and private foundation sources.

The daughter of a public school teacher and single mother, Sarah is passionate about applying insider knowledge to create equity and access. Prior to founding the Aubrey Group, she founded a nonprofit that provides simultaneous interpretation services to other nonprofits and community advocacy groups in Philadelphia, such as the Philadelphia Student Union and Trainers for Change. She then served as the Legislative Director for the Speaker Pro Tempore and Chair of Housing and Community Development of the New Jersey State Assembly. She then moved into the Chief Strategy Officer role with USA Architects Planners & Interior Designers.

She has continued to apply the gained knowledge of constraints and opportunities specific to the government, private business and nonprofit sectors to her firm’s successful projects. Sarah believes that we can create the world we want to live in when we align individual diligence, creative collaboration, and a clear vision. She is a proud alumna of Bryn Mawr College, where she earned her Artium Baccalaureus (AB) in Political Science, Magna Cum Laude and with Honors, in 2013.
