Mimi Newman, J.D., M.B.A., M.S.Ed.

Mimi is a lifelong learner, educator, and advocate with a blended background in marketing, law, and mental health counseling. She is known for her curiosity, creativity, and attention to detail; superior writing skills; and ability to inspire and motivate others to be the best versions of themselves and to work at optimal capacity. She enjoys collaborating as part of a team, as well as making her own unique contributions. Mimi thrives on tackling challenging and interesting projects, and championing the rights, goals, and needs of others.

Her unique academic and professional experience causes her to examine and address situations, entities, and people from various perspectives. She is skillful in active listening, goal setting and execution, and persuasive argument. Mimi is a problem solver who believes that steps can always be taken toward improvement and achievement.

While earning her M.B.A., Mimi was a Research Scholar in marketing research. She formulated strategies for local businesses, designed and implemented data collection instruments, analyzed survey data, and developed recommendations to assist clients in making business decisions.

Mimi has over 25 years of experience as a trial attorney in the plaintiff’s personal injury field. Following law school, she clerked for a trial court judge in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She drafted judicial opinions and briefs regarding evidentiary and trial matters. She practiced as a plaintiff’s personal injury attorney with a Philadelphia-based law firm. Mimi also authored a legal book published by Thomson Reuters.

In May of 2021, Mimi earned a Master’s Degree in Education for School and Mental Health Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania. She passed the National Counselor Exam, and is license-eligible upon completion of the requisite professional clinical hours. She is currently employed at Penn as the Counseling Field Placement Coordinator for graduate counseling students seeking internships, and an Adjunct Professor for a career education course. Mimi also co-facilitates bereavement groups for youth, and teaches social-emotional learning curricula to elementary school children. Mentorship is a key feature in her work.
