Flood Mitigation Assistance Swift Current

The Federal Emergency Management Agency's “Flood Mitigation Assistance Swift Current” grant program provides funding to accelerate mitigation efforts for National Flood Insurance Program-insured properties damaged by flood events that have been officially declared as "major disasters".  

Funding Amount: $600 million in total funding

Match: Up to 25%

Application Deadline: May 31, 2027 

FEMA will accept applications upon activation for major disaster declarations of flood-related events that occurred between June 1, 2025, and May 31, 2027.

Community Facilities Direct Loan & Grant Program

The US Department of Agriculture's “Community Facilities Direct Loan & Grant Program” provides funding to develop essential community facilities in rural areas. An "essential community facility" is defined as a facility that provides an essential service to the local community for the orderly development of that community. This does not include private, commercial, or business undertakings. For this program, "rural" is defined as a city, village, township, or town with no more than 20,000 residents. Funding can be used to purchase, construct, and/or improve essential community facilities, purchase equipment, and pay related project expenses.  

Loan Amount: No maximum loan limit. (Previous projects ranged from $50,000 to tens of millions)

Loan Terms: Up to 40 years

Recreational Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities

This grant program assists local governments in carrying out recreational programming that: 

  1. Commences or expands recreation & leisure services for persons with disabilities 

  2. Improves the status of persons with disabilities as members of the total society, and  

  3. Promotes the least restrictive environment in providing recreation and leisure services for persons with disabilities. 

Funding Amount: $5,000 to $20,000 (single municipality); $35,000 (multi-municipality)

Match: 20%

Application Deadline: August 21, 2026
