FEMA's Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&SFP) Grant deadline is approaching. This program helps improve the safety of the public and firefighters. Funds can be used to provide critically needed resources to reduce residential fire risk. FEMA has $36 million appropriated in funding and expects to make 100 awards. FEMA's Staffing For Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program funds fire departments to hire and retain new firefighters. Funds can also be used for volunteer departments to recruit and retain new members. FEMA has $360 million appropriated in funding for 300 awards. Applications are due April 12, 2024. Historic Transportation Marker Program Signage Grant available. This program, coming from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, provides historic markers to applicants. These signage markers are meant for historically important sites of transportation: including canals, bridges and tunnels, railroads, and airfields. The Office of the Attorney General's (OAG's) State and Community Highway Safety Grant Project supports highway traffic safety projects. Proposals should identify a local highway safety problem, with supporting statistics, causes, and a solution strategy. Funds can be used for roadway safety projects, police traffic services, emergency medical service projects, and more. The Nasdaq Quarterly Grant Program helps increase diversity in the investing world. It has two grant areas:

  1. Empowering organizations that enhance financial literacy in under-represented communities.

  2. Supporting entrepreneurs who promote diversity.

This program prioritizes funding for organizations that improve access to capital for women and diverse communities, and improve access to knowledge and tools among people who have been historically underrepresented in investing. The average award from the Nasdaq Foundation is $75,000, and applications for this round of funding are due on May 10, 2024.
