Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC)

The BRIC grant aims to enhance resilience and emergency management capacity, helping communities better prevent, respond to, and recover from natural hazards like weather disasters. Funding can be used for activities such as planning, training, equipment, and coordination efforts that improve public safety and disaster readiness. The program emphasizes building sustainable systems, partnerships, and infrastructures that reduce risk and improve outcomes during emergencies.

Funding Amount: Up to $150,000,000

Match: 3:1 or 9:1 for small and impoverished communities

NJDEP Green Communities

CFMP Development Grant

Fund local governments and shade tree commissions to assist in the writing and implementation of a comprehensive Community Forest Management Plan (CFMP). Grants are awarded to encourage the development of CFMP’s and projects that strongly link the use of best management practices to achieve urban and community forestry management goals defined in the CFMP. This grant is for municipalities and counties that currently have an inventory that meets the requirements and was conducted by a qualified consultant. 

Funding Amount: Up to $5,000 

Match: 3:1

Application Deadline: Rolling


Inventory and Planning Grant

For counties or municipalities that are developing their first CFMP or updating an expiring CFMP, and need to conduct an inventory complying with the CFMP guidelines. Municipalities or counties that have a current Plan and a qualified inventory are not eligible to apply for funds to augment their inventory. 

Funding Amount: Up to $20,000 

Match: 3:1

Reminder

Management Enhancement Review Program (MERP)

This is a reminder that the NJ Department of Community Affairs is still accepting applications for the MERP grant. Municipal-based government units can be awarded up to $100,000, while county-based government units can be awarded up to $150,000. With only a 3:1 match, this grant program makes it easy for local government units to conduct local government unit efficiency reviews to streamline operations and reduce costs.

New Jersey Historic Preservation

This is your final reminder to gather your materials for the multiple grant programs from the New Jersey Historic Preservation Fund. There are four different grant programs: 

  • Historic Site Management

  • Heritage Tourism Planning

  • Municipal, County, and Regional Planning

  • Capital Level I, II, and III Preservation 

All of them are due by Thursday, April 16, 2026, by 4:00 p.m. There is still time to submit your applications!
