Weekly Grant Round-Up

The US Department of Transportation's "Safe Streets and Roads for All" program funds communities for projects that increase roadway safety. Program funds can be used for developing a comprehensive "safety plan", conducting research to enhance an existing safety plan, and implementing specific projects outlined in a safety plan. This program has two more rounds of funding in 2024! Applications for implementation projects are due May 16, and applications for planning projects are due August 29. The program has over $3 billion in remaining funding and will fund 80% of accepted projects. Click for more information and get in touch with us at hello@theaubreygroup.org for assistance.

The Department of Energy (DOE) has opened the first round of funding in a new, annual grant program. The Local Government Energy Program: Communities Sparking Investment in Transformative Energy (C-SITE) program funds clean energy projects for local governments. Eligible projects include installing municipally-owned solar farms; public-private partnerships to build energy-efficient buildings, and electric vehicle ride-sharing programs for low-income residents. Local governments can apply for up to $3 million, and use in-kind labor for their 5% match! Applications for this initial round of funding are due May 31, 2024. The National Park Service (NPS), partnering with the Department of Defense, offers the "Military Families Outdoors Program". This opportunity is open to state and local governments and nonprofits. It funds nature-based programs for veterans and their families. Programs should improve the health and well-being of active military members, and increase access to the health benefits of national parks and public lands. Funds for the program still have to be appropriated, but the NPS estimates that applicants can receive between $100,000 and $5,000,000 in funding. Applications are due July 15, 2024.
