The New Jersey Historic Trust Preserve New Jersey grants are for local governments and 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations managing spaces that are listed on the National or New Jersey Register of Historic Places or are a contributing resource to a National or New Jersey Register-listed historic district.

Capital grants are awarded in three tiers, ranging from $5,000 to $750,000. All awards have matching requirements, which vary by grant request. Eligible projects include, but are not limited to, the rehabilitation, restoration, and preservation of historic structures, visitor amenities, archaeological investigations, and structural stabilization.

Historic Site Management grants range from $5,000 to $75,000 and are available to aid historic property owners and managers to gain a better understanding of preservation needs for a site or structure, to enhance long-term planning for the operations and programs of historic sites, and to broaden public awareness and enjoyment of historic sites.

Heritage Tourism Planning grants also range from $5,000 to $75,000 and help promote and enhance visitor experiences at New Jersey’s unique historic, cultural, and natural assets.

These opportunities are all due on April 24, 2025.

Part of the American Library Association, The Coretta Scott King Book Awards Round Table's (CSKBART) Donation Grant was created to help build collections and bring books into the lives of children in preschool programs, faith-based reading projects, homeless shelters, charter schools, underfunded libraries, and other community organizations. The Coretta Scott King Book Awards Committee believes that children’s lives must be saturated with books and reading opportunities. An enduring message of the Committee's Public Awareness Campaign is that books and reading can only add value to children's lives if books are present with opportunities to read. The Book Donation Grant addresses these objectives.

Any agency or institution that serves children or youth can apply for this award. This includes, but is not limited to schools, libraries, social service agencies, community organizations, prisons or detention centers, churches or other religious organizations, and institutions of higher education.

Applications are due by April 15, 2025.

This is your final chance to schedule a Pre-Application meeting with the New Jersey Department of Transportation Division of Local Aid to apply for the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Program. The last day to have a mandatory Pre-Application meeting is April 11, 2025. Prospective applicants can discuss their project concept and get guidance on whether the proposed project is a good fit for the program. The team will help identify potential risks and discuss essential program requirements. Participation does not guarantee a grant but helps the applicant submit a competitive application.

The program awards grantees $350,000 to $1.5 million for community-based “non-traditional” surface transportation projects designed to strengthen the cultural, aesthetic, and environmental aspects of the nation’s intermodal system. Eligible activities include:

  • Designing and constructing on-road and off-road trail facilities for pedestrians and bicyclists.

  • Converting abandoned railroad corridors for trails for pedestrians and bicyclists.

  • Constructing scenic turnouts, overlooks, and viewing areas.

  • Historic preservation and rehabilitation of historic transportation facilities.

Complete applications are due on May 22, 2025.
